Astro Bob: Are you ready for more aurora

The northern lights have been seen six times in the Upper Midwest since August 19 as of last night, Sept. 3.

What a very spectacular performance it was. Over several hours, the show changed incessantly, endlessly reinventing itself.

We were transfixed by the shimmering and dancing of sinuous arcs, phalanxes of spear-like beams, throbbing patches,

and weeping cascades of light. While green dominated, there were also sporadic bright red-tipped rays that occasionally entered the picture.

I parked on a road that crossed an expansive marsh after midnight.

It was as if I were standing at the bottom of a sea and looking up into a towering kelp forest that was

swaying above my head as I looked up at a northern sky exploding with aurora. Do people ever perish in the sea?
